Vodou Aid is the charitable arm of the Roots Without End Society. You can help support the lives and health of traditionalists in Haiti and around the world with a gift to Vodou Aid.

The mission of Vodou Aid is fourfold:

Houngan Wolmer, a member of the Roots Without End Society, prays for the wellbeing of his community and of all humanity.Nutritional and medical assistance, especially but not exclusively in times of disaster, for the members and associates of the Roots Without End Society, our neighbors and community at large in Jacmel, Haiti, without regard to religious affiliation.

The legal defense of our religion and of any member of our religion who is in any way persecuted for the practice of Vodou.

The promotion of the Vodou-related culture - art and artisanry, dance, drumming, cultural festivals such as Rara, and all other manifestations of creativity culturally related to Vodou.

Links and cooperative work with other organizations supporting respect for traditional spirituality around the world, including:

AHOMASE - the Association of Houngans and Mambos of the South-East (of Haiti).

The Child Rights and Rehabilitation Center, based in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria.

Our charitable work began in 2001 with the inauguration of the Roots Without End Society in its own peristyle in Jacmel. From 2001 to 2006 we raised thousands of dollars for medical and dental care, food aid, treatment of diseases, and other emergency aid.

In the sixteen months since Vodou Aid was formalized as a trust fund in August 2007, we have raised and sent to Haiti over six thousand dollars. All of the money we raise, except for small sums for money transfer fees and such things, is used to buy food in bulk. The food - rice, beans, oil, meat - is then distributed to our community in Jacmel on regularly repeated occasions.

We must observe that Vodou Aid was originally formalized to raise money for the legal defense of two American clergy who were detained in prison for forty-two days in Haiti because they had two sacred skulls among their belongings, these skulls having been given to them by a Haitian Houngan with whom they were studying ancestor reverence. We were also grieved by the case of Mambo Myrlene Severe, a Haitain clergywoman who was detained in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, likewise for possession of a sacred skull. We continue to investigate the legal issues surrounding the possession of sacred relics, and seek to regularize their possession and importation.

In the year 2008, in the wake of four devastating hurricanes which swept through Haiti, Vodou Aid redoubled our efforts to raise money for emergency medical and nutritional assistance. We treated a case of cholera successfully, and we organized large food distributions in which as much as $1,200 US dollars worth of food was given to our community members in a single afternoon.

United Nations personnel help with rescue missions, but world governments often allow churches to distribute food aid, with the result that the traditionalist majority is denied aid. Vodou Aid distributes food in time of disaster without regard to religious affiliation.

We plan to continue our work, we seek larger donors, and we hope to link with other faith-based or traidionalist organizations worldwide.

Drummer Hilaire teaches a British initiate the art of Vodou drumming at the Roots Without End Society peristyle in Jacmel, Haiti. The head of Vodou Aid is the head of the Roots Without End Society, Madame Kathy Grey, Bon Mambo Racine Sans Bout Sa Te La Daginen. The lawyer who oversees the trust fund is Attorney Timothy O’Leary of Easthampton, Massachusetts.

We are completing the organization of Vodou Aid as a tax-exempt charity under American law, and also we seek to obtain the appropriate status under Haitian law. Our Board of Directors will include Houngan Tom Seeber, mentioned above, Houngan David Ritter of Michigan, Mambo Kineta Chien of Seattle, Washington, herbalist Jean-Louis Prince of Jacmel, Haiti, and one or two others.

We are proud to have taken on this mission and we continue to seek the means and methods which will enable us to most effectively fulfill our mission.

Please give! Even a little bit makes a difference to a hungry child, a sick mother, an exhausted father. Please - what's twenty bucks? And if it's a bit of a hardship for you to give, just imagine what it's like for THEM. You will be blessed, you will be a part of a worldwide network of love and support. Please give, and give generously.

Thank you!
